Common Name: Hopbush, Switch Sorrel
Origin: Tropical and Subtropical regions worldwide including Asia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Baja California, Central Mexico, South Florida, and Hawaii
Height: Up to 5 meters
Light: Full sun, quite shade intolerant
Temperature: 22 to 32 degrees Celsius
Description
Watering:
More water for larger size, eventually forming an arborescent (tree-like) form. Small rounded shrubs provide little to no water
Fertilizer:
A monthly foliar feed of a water-soluble fertilizer diluted to one-half strength will encourage stronger growth. Twice a year, apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer with minor elements.
Re-potting:
Repot your Hopseed bush after it doubles in size or once a year whichever comes first.
Temperature:
Hopbush is not frosted tolerant and requires a warm temperate climate. It does best in full sun. Young growth can be killed by temperatures of -1 degrees Celsius or lower.
